Foreclosure Fairness Mediation

Washington State enacted the Foreclosure Fairness Mediation Act in 2011. The law is contained in RCW 61.24. This law requires that prior to foreclosure, homeowners be given an opportunity to meet face to face with their lenders and sit in a room with a decision maker who can approve a loan modification. The meet and confer and mediation options available under the law can delay foreclosure while allowing you to negotiate directly with the bank for a loan modification.
