About the Firm

Washington Debt Law, PLLC was founded exclusively to represent consumers and individuals facing debt issues. We offer legal strategies to reduce or discharge debt as well as legal representation against abusive debt collectors, banks, and foreclosure trustees. We are a full-service debt relief firm that can handle any debt related need you have ranging from debt settlement to bankruptcy to full litigation in state or federal court.

Debt Relief Means More than Bankruptcy

Many firms want to use bankruptcy as a one size fits all approach to solving debt problems. As a full-service debt relief firm we take the time to walk you through all of your options. Sometimes a debt can be settled out of court with no need for bankruptcy. Other times, a debt must be litigated as bankruptcy is not an option. Bankruptcy is merely one tool among many. We can help you determine if it is the right tool or if another option may be better suited to improving your financial position.

Legal Solutions To Improve Your Financial Future

Our focus is on discharging, reducing, and settling debt as well as suing fraudulent creditors to obtain damages and relief. We keep a constant eye on both your credit score and your bottom line and explain how each legal strategy we suggest will affect you monetarily. Our goal is to improve your financial position.

Fighting Creditor Fraud and Abusive Debt Collectors

While some creditors operate with integrity, many choose to act fraudulently. If a creditor chooses to engage in such behavior, we can bring a suit for damages and relief. Many times, creditors will opt for a fast settlement rather than a prolonged trial. We offer flat fee, hourly, and contingency litigation options that are designed to meet your needs. Some common illegal creditor tactics are listed below.
  • Abusive Debt Collectors trying to collect on debts discharged in Bankruptcy.
  • Banks applying excess mortgage payments to unearned interest instead of to unpaid principle.
  • Banks not applying mortgage payments timely to classify your payment as late and then refusing to accept further payment to force you into foreclosure.
  • Collection Agencies that try to collect debt that you have already paid off or that was discharged in bankruptcy (also known as “Zombie Debt”).
  • Mortgage Lenders adding illegal fees to your mortgage loan or to closing costs.
  • Mortgage Servicers adding unnecessary or repeat fees to your mortgage.
